Synthetic Organic Chemist

We are looking for a Synthetic Organic Chemist to work in our laboratories in Sunderland. The work involves practical organic synthesis on scales ranging from milligrams to kilos. Projects vary from research to process development and GMP scale up.

Candidates should ideally possess a BSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry and have an excellent knowledge of synthesis. In addition to a range of practical skills an ability to interpret a wide array of analytical information will be required. You need to be self-motivated and able to run projects with minimal supervision. Good inter-personal skills, both written and verbal are essential for working with both customers and laboratory team.

GMP Laboratory Technician

Due to an increasing work load in the GMP Department, a position has become available for a GMP Laboratory Technician to work alongside a GMP Chemist. The role will be a combination of laboratory work, which will require the operation of chemical processes from small scale through to 50L scale under controlled GMP conditions, and to provide general support to help with the day to day tasks across the department.

The job will entail the following:

  • Operation under supervision within a GMP compliant environment in an organic chemistry department to manufacture active pharmaceutical intermediates
  • Completion and review of GMP documentation
  • Analysis and review of analytical data
  • Maintaining a satisfactory cleaning regime in all GMP areas following approved practices and procedures
  • The general upkeep and monitoring of equipment, areas and supplies
  • Other general GMP duties to support the team and allow projects to meet demanding schedules

The candidate will possess a science related A-Level or equivalent and will require a good degree of organisational skills and the ability to multi task across the different areas within the department. Good communication skills will also be expected as the role will involve discussions with the Chemistry, Analytical and Quality departments.

Full training relevant to the role will be given but a general background in science and an interest in organic synthesis and practical experimentation would be expected.

Salary £15,000 per annum

Analytical Chemist

We are looking for an Analytical Chemist to work in our analytical services department in Sunderland, a modern well-equipped laboratory, which provides support to our research and manufacturing departments.

The successful candidate will have 1 -2 years relative experience and have a degree which is chemistry or analytical chemistry based, They will have experience in most modern analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, FT-IR, LC-MS and wet chemistry techniques.

They will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Good inter-personal skills, both verbal and written, are essential for working with both customers and colleagues. Experience of chiral HPLC / GC, method development and working to cGMP principles would be a distinct advantage.
Applicants must be able to work permanently in the UK.

Salary in region of £19,000 per annum

Temporary Quality Assurance Assistant

We are currently looking for a Temporary Quality Assurance Assistant. The work will involve batch documentation reviews, analytical document reviews, performing internal audits, co-ordinating the update and approval SOP’s and other controlled procedures, preparing or to support the preparation of and maintenance of technical/quality agreements, co-ordinating the CAPA system, assisting in the annual GMP training, performing the QA checks on GMP dispatches along with other  general administration duties.

Candidates should ideally possess a BSc in a science related subject. You need to be self-motivated, well organised and IT literate. Previous experience within a QA environment and familiarity with GMP manufacture and document control are desirable. Good inter-personal skills, both written and verbal are essential.

The contract will last for 6 months and hours of work are Monday – Wednesday 8.30am – 4.30pm.
