Meet the team

Denise Bowser (Commercial Director)

Denise is a founding member of Onyx Scientific and is responsible for commercial operations. She previously worked for Chirex, where she gained several years’ experience as a development chemist and product manager. Denise is often the key commercial contact for existing client projects.

Derek Londesbrough (Technical Director)

Derek Londesbrough is responsible for R&D operations at Onyx Scientific and has over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industry. His main areas of expertise are in route discovery and selection, process development and scale up, which are essential to many of our clients’ projects.

Christine McSherry (QA Manager)

Christine has worked in the pharmaceutical industry in quality-related roles for over 20 years. At Onyx, she is responsible for all QA matters at our UK site including client audits, liaising with various regulatory bodies and ensuring all staff adhere to relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards.

Jules Northen (Research Manager)

With over 15 years’ experience in contract research, Jules is our resident expert in solid state chemistry development, which covers screening, crystallisation and candidate selection. As part of his role, he is responsible for overseeing lead optimisation services including process and development (PR&D) projects for Phase I studies.

Simon Olley (Analytical Services Manager)

A founding member of Onyx Scientific, Simon has over 20 years’ experience in working in analytical-related roles. A key member of the operational and project delivery team, he oversees the analytical department at our site in Sunderland.

Angela Gosling (GMP Manager)

Another founding member of the business, Angela has in excess of 30 years’ experience in the contract chemistry and manufacturing industry. With knowledge in chemical process development and scale-up, she oversees the running and delivery of all clients’ GMP projects at Sunderland.
