Large Scale Chemist

Are you an experienced chemist looking for a hands-on, technically engaging role? Onyx Scientific is offering an excellent opportunity to join our team as a Large Scale Chemist.

You really will be able to have a meaningful impact while adhering to the safety guidelines set by the company, performing 50L processing and supervising and directing technicians to aid with efficient large-scale processing.

 

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, are essential for working with colleagues.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Carrying out 50L-scale chemistry with confidence and minimal supervision
  • Working closely with the Production Manager and Senior Chemist, proactively keeping them updated
  • Staying familiar with project timelines and contributing to meeting key targets and deadlines
  • Communicating any delays, challenges, or issues clearly and constructively
  • Preparing clear, well-structured weekly laboratory reports that reflect your progress and results

 

Key Skills and Qualities

 

  • A degree in chemistry or a related field
  • Full understanding of lab safety, basic 50L techniques, and the importance of contributing to overall project objectives
  • Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training
  • Confident with project-specific equipment and chemicals, understanding their use, maintenance, and location
  • Strong organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills to work efficiently throughout the day
  • Clear and proactive communication, seeking help when needed and keeping the team informed
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to challenges and changing priorities
  • Competent with analytical techniques used in the department, with the ability to interpret and explain data verbally and in reports
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and vigilance in identifying potential issues
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to learn, with a desire to support the team and take on additional responsibilities
  • Willing to work reasonable overtime when required to meet project or team goals
